What is Ear Candling?

Ear candling is an ancient practice used for drawing out wax buildup and debris from the ear area, which can be traced back to ancient Tibet, Greece, China, Egypt and Guatemala. Ear Candling is known as an excellent alternative remedy for those suffering from sinus and ear conditions such as sinusitis, allergies, post nasal drip, migraines, candida, itchy ears and can help with the regulation of ear pressure. It has also been reported to relieve tinnitus and vertigo symptoms as well as the prevention of colds and ear infections. However, no medical claims are made as the benefits of ear candling are different for each individual.

An ear candle also known as an ear cone, is a hollow candle made of linen and dipped in beeswax or paraffin wax. Beeswax is the most natural option. A session normally begins with a cranial massage activating pressure points and signaling the body that this is a time for release, then a candle is inserted into the outer ear area, (this is completely non invasive). The candle is lit creating a vacuum within the hollow center which begins to draw out wax and debris. Two candles are usually used in each ear. As the candles work, the practitioner performs facial massage to the sinus areas supporting the opening and release of these areas. After the candling is complete, additional cranial massage is performed for the purposes of integration.
